Understanding Transfer and Retrieval Nodes
The mod's pipe network uses two core components: Transfer Nodes pull items from adjacent blocks, while Retrieval Nodes extract items on demand. Together, they form a simple but powerful sorting system.
Building Your Network
Place a Transfer Node on the output of your machine (
furnace, quarry, etc.). Connect item pipes from this node to your storage destinations. You can color-code pipes or use multiple separate networks for organization.
For active sorting, attach Retrieval Nodes to your storage containers and connect them back to where items are needed. Retrieval Nodes can be configured to pull specific item types.
Storage Solutions
Store sorted items in Filing Cabinets for compact space, massive Drums for bulk materials, or traditional chests. Trash Cans automatically delete unwanted items—useful for disposing of cobblestone or dirt from quarries.
Scaling Up
As your operation grows, create separate pipe networks for different material types to avoid bottlenecks. Use multiple Transfer Nodes on high-output machines to distribute items to several storage locations simultaneously. Label your storage visually with colored blocks or signs for easy navigation.
