Ponderer Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I start making my first tutorial?
Hold the item you want to create a guide for, then run `/ponderer new hand`. This spawns a new tutorial scene centered on that item. Open the visual editor by clicking the edit icon in the bottom-left corner of the scene to start adding steps.
What's the difference between a scene and a blueprint?
A scene is your complete tutorial with camera angles, text, mobs, and blocks arranged to teach something. A blueprint is a saved structure—a snapshot of blocks and their positions in your world that you can paste into scenes or reuse later.
How do I save a section of my world to use in a tutorial?
Hold a piece of Paper to activate the blueprint tool, then click and drag to select the area you want to save. The selected region will be stored as a blueprint structure that you can place into your tutorial scenes.
Can I undo or redo changes while editing a scene?
Yes, the mod supports standard undo and redo actions while you're building a scene in the visual editor. Use these to safely experiment with different layouts and camera angles.
How do I work on tutorials with friends on a server?
Use `/ponderer push` to send your local tutorial scenes to the server and `/ponderer pull` to download updates from your teammates. This lets multiple players edit the same guides together.
What happens when I reload my changes with /Ponderer reload?
This command refreshes your local tutorial files and displays the updates immediately in-game without restarting Minecraft, so you can see your edits right away.
Can I drag items from JEI directly into my tutorial?
Yes, you can drag and drop items, blocks, or mobs from the Just Enough Items menu directly into your tutorial scene's visual editor for quick placement.
How do I share my finished tutorials with other players?
Run `/ponderer export` to save all your tutorial scenes and structures into a ZIP file that you can distribute to the community.
What is PonderJS format and why would I convert to it?
PonderJS is an alternative format for storing tutorial data. Converting your visual scenes to PonderJS lets you use them in other contexts or modify them outside the visual editor if needed.
How do I see all my tutorial scenes in one place?
Run `/ponderer list` to open a menu displaying all your tutorial items and scenes, making it easy to navigate and select which one to edit or test.
