Plants Zombies FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I get started with plants & zombies mod?
Explore different biomes to find wild plants growing naturally, then defeat them or collect Sun from Sun-producing plants like Sunflowers. Once you have enough Sun, use it to tame plants and obtain seeds, then place your tamed plants on grass or in plant pots to begin your defense.
What's the best way to collect sun?
Plant Sunflowers in your garden since they passively produce Sun over time, or defeat wild plants you find while exploring to get Sun drops. Combining both methods—passive production from tamed plants and active farming from wild ones—gives you the fastest Sun income.
Do I need plant pots or can I just place plants on the ground?
You can place plants directly on grass, but plant pots give your plants extra armor, making them survive much longer against zombie attacks. Plant pots are worth using for your most important defenders.
What happens during a zombie raid?
Zombie Raids spawn dangerous waves of zombies including special types and Leader Zombies that have extra health and call for backup. You need a well-prepared garden with multiple plants and plant pots to survive these events.
How do I defend against leader zombies?
Leader Zombies carry flags, have significantly more health than normal zombies, and summon reinforcements, so you need multiple plants working together to take them down. Focus your strongest plants on Leaders and use plant pots to keep your defenders alive longer.
Can I use the mailbox to store items?
The mailbox block lets you send and receive letters, but it's primarily a decorative and communication feature rather than a storage system. Use it to add flavor to your base alongside your plant defenses.
What biomes have the most wild plants?
Wild plants spawn naturally across different biomes including deserts, swamps, forests, and even the Nether, so explore multiple environments to find variety and collect different plant types.
Do plants work in the nether?
Yes, plants can grow in the Nether and you'll find wild plants spawning there, though you should still place them on valid ground or in plant pots for the best results.
Why aren't my plants attacking zombies?
Make sure your plants are actually tamed (not wild) and placed on valid ground or in a plant pot—plants won't attack if they're just sitting in your inventory or placed incorrectly. Also check that zombies are actually spawning in your area.
Can I combine this mod with other mods?
Plants & Zombies Mod is designed to work alongside other mods, though performance depends on your setup and which mods you're running together. If you experience lag, try reducing the number of active mobs or plant pots in one area.
