Do I need Stargate Journey installed to use Moregate Mod?
Yes, Moregate Mod is a visual addon for Stargate Journey and requires it to be installed first. Without Stargate Journey, the mod will not function.
How do I get Variant Crystals?
Variant Crystals are obtained through normal gameplay progression in Stargate Journey. Check your mod's crafting recipes or loot tables to find the specific methods for your modpack version.
Can I change a gate's theme back to the original after using a Variant Crystal?
Yes, you can use another Variant Crystal to change the theme again, including one that restores the classic appearance. You're not locked into any single variant.
Do Variant Crystals work on all gate types?
Variant Crystals are designed for specific gate types—Milky Way gates have their own variants, Pegasus gates have different options, and Tollan gates have End-themed variants. Using a crystal on the wrong gate type won't work.
Will changing a gate's appearance affect how it works or its power requirements?
No, Variant Crystals only change the visual style and sound theme of your gate. All mechanical functions and energy costs remain identical to the original gate.
Does the new DHD model work the same as the old one?
Yes, the updated 3D DHD model is purely visual and functions exactly like the classic DHD. The menu screen also updates to match the new design but works the same way.
Can I use Moregate variants in multiplayer servers?
Yes, as long as all players and the server have Moregate Mod installed, variants will display correctly for everyone. Without the mod on the server, other players may not see your custom themes.
What happens if I break a gate with a custom variant applied?
Breaking a gate will drop the gate blocks, but the variant appearance is tied to the gate itself—you'll need to reapply a Variant Crystal to recreate the themed look when you rebuild it.
Are there any performance issues with using many variant gates?
Moregate Mod is designed to be lightweight and shouldn't cause performance problems. If you experience lag, it's more likely from Stargate Journey itself or other mods rather than the variants.
Can I combine Moregate with other Stargate Journey addons?
Moregate Mod is compatible with other Stargate Journey addons as long as they don't directly conflict with gate rendering or DHD models. Check individual mod compatibility notes if you're unsure about a specific combination.
