Making Bookshelves Connect Into One Continuous Texture
Why Bookshelves Look Blocky by Default
A vanilla bookshelf is a full block with a book pattern on every side, so a wall of them reads as a grid of identical squares. With connected textures enabled, adjacent bookshelves merge so the book rows run continuously across the whole wall instead of restarting at every block boundary.
Building a Clean Bookshelf Wall
1. Place bookshelves in a solid rectangle or a straight line, side by side, with no other block types between them. Any non-bookshelf block in the run stops the connection at that point.
2. Avoid stacking bookshelves directly on top of a different block if you want the vertical seam to vanish too — the top and bottom faces connect the same way the sides do.
3. If you are using bookshelves as an enchanting setup, remember the connection is purely visual. The block positions that matter for enchanting are unchanged, so you can build the wall however looks best.
When Connections Break
A common cause is placing bookshelves around a corner. The two faces meet at 90 degrees and cannot blend into each other, so you will always see an edge at the corner. That is expected. If a flat wall still shows seams, look for a hidden block behind or beside it, or a bookshelf that got replaced by a different wood variant, and swap it back.
