Getting Connected Textures to Work on Other Blocks
Which Blocks Benefit
Connected textures are most noticeable on any block whose texture is meant to tile endlessly: glass, glass panes, bookshelves, and similar repeating patterns. The pack applies the merging behavior wherever the texture set supports it, so the same rules apply across all of them.
The General Rule for Any Block
1. Use one block type per surface. Two different blocks next to each other will never merge, no matter how similar they look.
2. Fill the area completely. A checkerboard or a pattern with holes will show a frame around every isolated block.
3. Keep the surface flat. Connections happen between faces that point the same direction, so a flat wall or floor merges cleanly while stairs, slabs, and corners keep their edges.
Testing Before You Build Big
Before committing to a large build, place a small test patch — say a few blocks in a row and a small square — and look at it from a distance. This tells you quickly whether that block type connects at all and how the merged texture reads at scale. If a block does not merge, it simply is not part of the connected set; you are not doing anything wrong. Once you know which blocks connect, plan your walls and windows around those so the seams land where you want them.
