Set Up Isolated Power Networks with Grid IDs
Why Use Multiple Grids
By default, all machines within a battery's range share power. However, you may want separate networks for security, organization, or to prevent one system from draining another. Grid IDs solve this.
Assigning Grid IDs
First, set your personal grid id using the command /trigger mech_gridid set <number>. Choose any number—this becomes your active grid.
Then, use the Multimeter: sneak + right-click any machine or battery to assign it to your current grid id. Only machines and batteries on the same grid id will exchange power, even if physically adjacent.
Practical Applications
Use this to create sub-networks: one grid for your main factory, another for your base defenses (like plasma guns), and a third for experimental machines. This prevents accidental power shortages and keeps your systems organized.
Quantum Batteries and Distance
Quantum Batteries are special: they share power across all Quantum Batteries on the same grid id, regardless of distance or dimension. This is ideal for linking remote mining operations or cross-dimension bases to your main power supply.
