Removing Machines Safely

To break a machine and return it to item form, sneak (hold shift) and right-click the machine with your wrench. The machine will drop as an item, preserving all its internal data. This means any energy stored, configuration, or progress is retained.

Rotating and Adjusting

Simple right-clicking (without sneaking) performs machine-specific actions—typically rotating the machine to face a different direction. This is useful for repositioning input/output sides without breaking the machine.

Moving Batteries

Batteries are particularly valuable to move since they store energy. Break them with the wrench and place them elsewhere; their stored power and grid assignments persist. This allows you to reorganize your power network as your base evolves.
