How to Recycle and Un-Craft Items Back into Materials

Recovering Materials from Crafted Blocks

The Master Cutter adds recycling and un-crafting recipes, which let you break crafted blocks back down into their component materials. This is the answer when you have a chest full of stairs, slabs, or other crafted items you no longer need and want the raw material back.

1. Place the crafted item in the stonecutter input.

2. Check the recipe list for the base material or a smaller component.

3. Select the output and collect it.

This is especially handy after tearing down a build. Instead of storing hundreds of leftover stairs and slabs, run them through the cutter and get planks, stone, or other base blocks you can actually reuse.

What to Feed It

Focus on items that were originally crafted from a simpler block: stairs, slabs, fences, doors, trapdoors, and similar shaped blocks. The cutter will offer the material they were made from, so you can consolidate your storage and stop hoarding dead stock.

Keep in mind that un-crafting is not always a perfect one-to-one return, since crafting some shapes consumes multiple input items. Treat it as a way to salvage value from leftovers, not as an infinite material loop. Sort your storage first, pull out anything you will never place again, and recycle it in batches.
