Luckys Locksmith FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I craft a key?
Check your crafting recipe book for the key recipe—it uses common materials you can gather early game. Once you have the materials, craft the key in your crafting table and it will appear in your inventory ready to use.
Do I need the same key to open a chest every time?
Yes, you need to hold the specific key that locked the chest in order to open it. If you lose the key, you won't be able to access that locked container unless you break it.
Can I lock barrels or only chests?
You can lock both chests and barrels with this mod. Use the same key-locking method on either container type.
What happens if someone else tries to open my locked chest?
They won't be able to open it unless they have the exact key you used to lock it. This makes it safe to store valuables on multiplayer servers.
How do I use the Curios slot for my key?
Open your inventory and locate the Curios slot (usually on the right side). Place your key there, and you'll be able to open locked chests without holding the key in your main hand.
Can I make multiple keys that open the same chest?
No, each key is unique to the chest it locks. If you want multiple people to access a chest, you'd need to give them copies of the same key item.
What are Golden and Trial locks used for?
These special lock types are designed for map makers and dungeon builders to create custom loot chests and puzzle elements. They're found in the Operator Utilities tab for creative mode use.
Will this mod work on servers?
Yes, the mod is designed specifically to protect your items on multiplayer servers by preventing other players from opening your locked containers.
What if I accidentally lock a chest with the wrong key?
You'll need to break the chest to retrieve your items, as you can only open it with the key that locked it. Make sure you keep your key safe before locking anything important.
Can I lock containers that are already full of items?
Yes, you can lock a chest or barrel at any time, whether it's empty or full of items. The lock protects whatever is inside from being accessed by other players.
