How to Use Leaves Be Gone on Large or Modded Trees Without Lag

The mod is built to handle massive trees efficiently, but there are still things you can do to keep performance smooth when felling huge or modded trees.

Why It Stays Efficient

Instead of constantly scanning for leaf and wood blocks every tick, the mod hooks into the game's tree-chopping logic. Leaves are only cleared when the last log is broken, so there is no ongoing background cost. This matters most on weaker PCs and on servers with many players chopping at once.

Tips for Big Trees

  • Break the trunk from the base upward so the final log is the one that triggers the clear. If you leave a stray log, the leaves will not be removed.
  • For modded trees that register their leaves as the vanilla leaf type, the mod works automatically — no extra setup needed.
  • If a tree has a non-standard leaf block that is not registered as vanilla leaves, the mod will not clear it; you may need to remove those manually.
  • Avoid chopping several giant trees simultaneously on a low-end machine; even efficient clearing produces a burst of item entities.

If you experience a stutter, lower the disappearance speed slightly so the removal is spread over a few ticks rather than one instant burst.
