Fix Missing Outlines or a Shader Pack That Won't Show Up

If you load a world and it looks like plain Minecraft, with no cartoon outlines and no brighter lighting, work through these checks.

The Pack Isn't in the List

1. Check your loader. Shader packs only work through Iris or OptiFine. If the Video Settings screen has no Shader Packs or Shaders button, the loader is not running. Relaunch using the correct game profile.

2. Check the folder. The file must be inside shaderpacks. A common mistake is dropping it into resourcepacks, where the game ignores it.

3. Check for double folders. If you unzipped the pack, make sure the files are not buried one folder too deep. If in doubt, put the original zip file straight into shaderpacks.

4. Close and reopen the shader menu so the list refreshes.

The Pack Is Listed but Nothing Changes

1. Make sure VineC's Cartoony Shaders is actually selected (highlighted) and that you pressed Apply or Done.

2. Look closely at a block edge, a mob or a dropped item. The pack draws bold outlines around all of these, so missing outlines everywhere means the shader is not active.

3. Turn off any other shader pack. Only one pack can run at a time.

4. If the world looks too bright or too dark, adjust the vanilla Brightness slider in Video Settings. The pack has its own lighting style, and your personal brightness setting still stacks on top of it.
