VineC’s Cartoony Shaders FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I turn on VineC's Cartoony Shaders?
Open Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs, click VineC's Cartoony Shaders in the list, then click Done or Apply. When the outlines appear around blocks and mobs, the pack is active.
How do I switch back to the normal vanilla look?
Return to the Shader Packs menu and select OFF (or the internal or default option, depending on your shader loader), then confirm. Your world goes back to vanilla lighting with no outlines. You can switch the pack on again the same way at any time.
Why doesn't VineC's Cartoony Shaders show up in my shader pack list?
Shader packs only work through a shader loader such as Iris or OptiFine, so check that one is installed and running first. Then make sure the pack's zip file sits directly in the shaderpacks folder and isn't buried inside an extra folder. Click the button that opens the shaderpacks folder from the Shader Packs menu so you know you're using the right one.
The shader is selected but I don't see any cartoon outlines. What's wrong?
First confirm the pack is actually highlighted as active in the Shader Packs menu and isn't set to OFF. Then try reloading the pack or restarting the game. If the outlines still don't appear, temporarily disable other mods that change rendering, since they can interfere with shader effects.
Do the outlines work on mobs and items, or only on blocks?
They work on all three. The pack draws crisp cartoon outlines around blocks, mobs, and items, so characters and dropped loot stand out against the background as clearly as terrain does.
Does this shader change Minecraft's blocky style or textures?
No. It keeps the classic blocky look intact. It adds bold outlines and adjusts the lighting toward a bright, animated style, so the world looks like a comic book while still feeling like Minecraft.
If I use it on a server, will other players see the cartoon look?
No. Shader packs run only on your own client, so you're the only one who sees the outlines and lighting. You don't need to install anything on the server, and other players see their normal view unless they turn the pack on themselves.
Will VineC's Cartoony Shaders lag my game?
Any shader pack costs more than vanilla rendering, and drawing outlines around everything on screen adds some load. If your frame rate drops, lower your render distance or other video settings. You can also turn the pack off when you need maximum performance.
Can I run this together with another shader pack?
No. Shader loaders run only one shader pack at a time, so selecting VineC's Cartoony Shaders replaces any other pack you had active. Switch between packs in the Shader Packs menu.
How do I get the best comic-book style screenshots with this shader?
Shoot in daytime or near bright light so the adjusted lighting makes colors pop. Frame subjects like mobs or builds against a contrasting background so the outlines stand out. Press F1 to hide the HUD before you take the screenshot.
