Balancing Darkness and Visibility

Luminous Tide Reflections improves ambient block lighting, meaning moonlight and starlight naturally illuminate your world at night. This creates atmospheric darkness while keeping your surroundings visible—you don't need to flood your world with torches.

Strategic Nighttime Lighting

Use emissive light sources purposefully rather than for pure visibility. Place torches and glowstone to:

  • Highlight architectural features
  • Create focal points in your base
  • Guide players along paths with warm light pools
  • Establish mood and atmosphere

Leveraging Ambient Lighting

The shader's improved ambient lighting means shadows have realistic depth. Dark areas under trees and overhangs naturally feel shadowed without being pitch-black. This allows you to build with darker blocks and materials while maintaining visibility.

Test your builds at night to see how ambient lighting affects them. You may find you need fewer light sources than expected, allowing for more atmospheric and visually interesting designs that rely on the shader's enhanced lighting depth.
