Get Fantasy Villagers Showing Up (and Fix Villagers That Still Look Vanilla)

Turning the pack on

1. Make sure your game runs OptiFine, or both Entity Texture Features and Entity Model Features. The pack relies on one of these setups to display its custom models and textures. Unmodded vanilla will not show them.

2. Open Options > Resource Packs and click Open Pack Folder. Place the pack file in the resourcepacks folder.

3. Back in the Resource Packs screen, move the pack into the Selected column and click Done.

4. Visit a plains village. Its villagers should now appear as Humans.

If villagers still look like vanilla villagers

  • Check the biome first. Desert and savanna villagers stay as classic vanilla villagers by design. Try a plains, taiga or snowy village before assuming something is broken.
  • Check pack order. In the Selected list, packs higher up override packs below them. If another pack also changes villagers, move this pack above it.
  • Check your loader setup. With the ETF/EMF route, confirm both mods are installed, not just one. On OptiFine, open Video Settings > Quality and make sure the custom entity model and random entity options are turned on.
  • Reload resources. Press F3 + T after changing anything so textures and models refresh without a restart.
  • Look again up close. Walk right up to a villager so you are not judging from a distant, low-detail view.
