Build a Themed Settlement for the Fantasy Race You Want

Pick your race, then your biome

Decide which race you want living in your town, then build in the matching biome:

  • Humans: plains
  • Dwarves: taiga or snowy biomes, which suit a mountain-hold or log-cabin build
  • Wood Elves: green forests or jungles, which suit treehouses and leafy walkways
  • Dark Elves: dark oak forests or swamps, which suit dark wood and moody lighting
  • High Elves: cherry groves or birch forests, which suit pale, elegant architecture

Press F3 to check the biome name before you lay foundations. Make sure the whole town sits inside one biome.

Populating the town

1. Bring villagers in using normal vanilla methods: boats, minecarts, or leading them along a path.

2. Breed new ones on-site. Give villagers beds and enough food, and let babies be born inside your chosen biome.

3. Place workstations to assign professions as usual. The pack does not change how jobs or trades work.

4. Check each villager's look once they are settled. Compare imported villagers with ones born locally. If an imported villager doesn't show the race you expected, rely on locally bred villagers to fill out the town.

5. Avoid desert and savanna for a fantasy town. Villagers there stay vanilla.

Mixing races

You can build districts in different neighboring biomes, such as a dwarven quarter in taiga next to a human plains town. This works because race follows biome.
