Locate HUD Configuration Files

The Dark Red GUI Resource Pack stores HUD element definitions in its texture and language files. Navigate to your resource pack folder and open the assets directory to find files controlling health hearts, hunger drumsticks, and the XP bar appearance.

Modify Color Values

Within the pack's JSON files, you'll find color codes assigned to HUD elements. The default crimson red uses specific hex values. To customize:

1. Open the relevant texture file or JSON configuration

2. Locate color definitions for hearts, hunger, and experience_bar

3. Replace hex color codes with your preferred values

4. Save changes and reload your resource pack in-game

Test Your Changes

Create a test world and take damage or eat food to preview your new HUD colors. The high-contrast design means any color you choose should remain visible during combat. If text becomes hard to read against your new colors, adjust the background panel opacity in the same configuration files.

Reload the resource pack without restarting the game using F3 + T (Java Edition) to see updates instantly.
