Pick Your Leaf Type

Cubic Leaves gives every leaf species a distinct look, so choose based on the style you want. Oak and birch read as light, tidy hedges; spruce and dark oak feel heavier and more formal; jungle and mangrove suit wild, tropical gardens. Gather the matching leaf blocks plus a sapling source if you want to grow more.

Building the Hedge

1. Mark a line with a temporary block, then replace it with leaf blocks at the height you want — two blocks tall is a good default for a garden wall.

2. Keep the top row flat and the sides straight. The blocky texture rewards clean lines, so avoid random single-block bumps.

3. Add a second, taller section every few blocks to suggest shrubs of different sizes.

4. Place a row of dirt or grass path in front so the hedge sits on a defined border.

5. Tuck flowers, ferns, or a lantern on top of fence posts beside the hedge for contrast.

Making It Look Natural

  • Break one or two leaf blocks out of the top row to create gaps, then fill them with a different leaf type for a mixed hedge.
  • Curve the hedge around corners instead of forcing right angles everywhere.
  • Use the same leaf type for a matching tree behind the hedge so the garden reads as one planted space.
