Snad Mod FAQ

Snad adds three blocks — Snad, Red Snad, and Suol Snad — that launch any entity upward when it lands on them. Snad gives a strong bounce, Red Snad gives a lower more controlled bounce, and Suol Snad behaves differently again, so you can tune how high you want to go.

Craft Snad first, place it on the ground, and jump onto it to feel the bounce. Once you understand the launch height, branch into Red Snad and Suol Snad for the other bounce behaviors.

Check the recipes section of the wiki for the exact ingredients, since Snad, Red Snad, and Suol Snad each have their own recipe. The recipes are simple enough that you can make a stack of Snad early on.

Snad's launch is strong enough that landing back on normal ground can hurt. Place a second Snad block, water, or a soft landing block where you come down, or switch to Red Snad for a gentler bounce.

Snad is the standard high launcher, Red Snad gives a shorter, more controlled bounce, and Suol Snad has its own distinct launch behavior. Use Snad for height, Red Snad for precision, and Suol Snad when you want a different feel.

Yes — any entity that lands on Snad gets launched, including mobs. This makes it useful for mob trampolines, drop traps, and moving mobs into a farm or kill chamber.

Snad launches entities, so dropped items that count as entities will also get bounced. Keep that in mind if you build a Snad launcher near a storage area, since your items may fly off.

Yes — chain Snad blocks or combine Snad with a running start to clear walls and gaps. Red Snad is better for fine-tuning the arc so you land where you want instead of overshooting.

Snad is a simple block-based mod, so it generally plays fine alongside other mods and on servers. If another mod changes entity movement or gravity, test the bounce in a safe spot first.

A few Snad blocks are cheap, but a huge field of them launching many entities at once can cause lag. Keep large mob trampolines and drop traps to a reasonable size and avoid stacking hundreds of Snad blocks in one spot.
