Build the sieving chain
Place an
Auto Sieve where you want the line to start. Feed it the material you would normally put through a hand sieve. The
Auto Sieve processes that input automatically and outputs the sieved results to the block or inventory in front of it.
If you want heavier yields, use an
Auto Heavy Sieve instead. It handles the same job as the
Auto Sieve but is built for heavy sieving output. Both machines need a valid input supply and somewhere for the output to go, so connect them to a chest or a pipe network before you power them on.
Feed and collect
Load the input into the
Auto Sieve's inventory. The machine pulls from that slot and runs continuously as long as material is available. Route the output into a chest, hopper, or storage drawer so it does not back up.
To keep the line supplied without manual refills, place an
Auto Compressor or
Auto Compressed Hammer upstream to prepare compressed inputs, then feed those into the sieve. Use
Auto Compressor (Rationing) when you want the compressor to hold back and only process a set amount, which prevents the line from draining your stockpile.
Iron Mesh is the mesh item used in sieve setups. Keep a supply on hand so you can replace worn mesh without stopping the line. Once the
Auto Sieve, its input source, and its output storage are connected, the line runs on its own.
