How to Get Wood from a Dynamic Tree

Find and Fell the Tree

Dynamic Trees grow as full trunk-and-canopy structures, so you harvest them like any other tree. Locate a grown tree block — Oak Tree, Birch Tree, Spruce Tree, Jungle Tree, Acacia Tree, Dark Oak Tree, Cherry Tree, Mangrove Tree, Pale Oak Tree, Crimson Tree, or Warped Tree. Break the trunk block nearest the ground with an axe or by hand. The tree collapses progressively as you remove the base, dropping logs you can collect.

Collect Drops and Seeds

As the trunk breaks down, watch for the tree's seed item dropping alongside the wood. Each species has its own: Oak Acorn, Apple Pip, Birch Catkin, Spruce Cone, Jungle Pod, Acacia Seed, Dark Oak Acorn, Cherry Blossom Pit, Mangrove Propagule, Pale Oak Acorn, Crimson Cap, or Warped Cap. Mega variants — Mega Spruce Cone, Mega Jungle Pod, Mega Crimson Cap, Mega Warped Cap — come from the larger tree forms. Pick these up before they despawn; they are your only source of new trees for that species.

Clear the Canopy

Chop upward through the remaining trunk. The canopy leaves and branches fall away as the structure loses support, so you do not need to climb. Collect any wood that lands on the ground. Crimson Tree and Warped Tree grow in the Nether and drop Crimson Cap and Warped Cap respectively, so bring fire protection when harvesting there. Water Roots appear near Mangrove Tree growth in water and can be broken for additional material.
