By default the Dragon Radar scans a very large area, but some players want to detect dragons across entire continents. The range is configurable, and adjusting it is straightforward.

Finding the Config

Locate the mod's config file in your instance's config folder (the filename matches the mod). Open it with a plain text editor. Look for the entry controlling scan range or detection distance — it will be labeled clearly with the default value shown.

Editing the Range

Change the numeric value to whatever distance you want, then save the file. Larger values mean the radar can lock onto dragons much farther away, but be aware of two trade-offs:

  • Performance: very large ranges may cause more frequent scanning work.
  • Noise: you may detect many more dragons at once, making filters more important.

Applying Changes

Restart Minecraft (or reload the config if the mod supports it) so the new value takes effect. After restarting, hold the radar and scan — you should now pick up dragons that were previously out of range.

Tips

Pair a long range with tight type/stage filters so the needle doesn't jump between distant targets. If the radar feels sluggish or the game stutters while scanning, dial the range back down until performance recovers.
