Checking Attribute Registration

If your custom attributes aren't appearing, verify:

  • Your JSON file is in the correct folder structure: data/namespace/attributes/
  • The namespace matches your datapack's namespace
  • JSON syntax is valid (no trailing commas, proper quotes)
  • Your datapack is enabled and has higher priority than conflicting packs

Testing Attribute Application

Use commands to check if attributes exist and have correct values. Apply modifiers to test entities and verify they respond as expected. Check the F3 debug screen or use NBT viewers to inspect entity data.

Common Issues

Attributes may fail to apply if:

  • Modifiers reference non-existent attributes
  • Minimum/maximum bounds are misconfigured
  • Sync settings prevent client-side visibility
  • Other datapacks override your definitions

Reload your datapack after fixes using /reload and test in a controlled environment before deploying to your server.
