How to Apply a Custom Skin to Your Elytra

The core purpose of this mod is letting you change how your elytra looks without changing how it flies. You do this by combining an Elytra Wing item with your elytra, or by applying a wing to an elytra you already own.

Getting an Elytra Wing

Craft or obtain an Elytra Wing. The wing is the cosmetic carrier — it holds the appearance you want. On its own it is not a functional glider, so you still need a real elytra to fly with.

Applying the Wing

1. Place your elytra and the Elytra Wing together in a crafting grid.

2. Take the resulting elytra out — it now carries the wing's appearance.

3. Equip it in your chest slot as normal and jump off a high place to confirm it still glides.

If you want to change the look again, repeat the process with a different Elytra Wing. The previous appearance is replaced, not stacked. To go back to the vanilla look, you generally need to remove the applied wing rather than applying a blank one, so keep a plain elytra on hand if you might want to revert.

Notes

• The wing is purely visual; flight physics, durability and firework boosting behave like a normal elytra.
• Keep spare wings in a chest near your crafting table so swapping looks is quick.
