Why Nether Ores Are Different
This data pack maintains consistency with standard Minecraft behavior for Nether ores. While most ore blocks drop finished materials directly, two Nether-specific blocks retain their original mechanics.
Affected Blocks
- Nether Gold Ore: Drops raw gold ore when mined
- Gilded Blackstone: Drops raw gold ore when mined
What You Need to Do
1. Mine the block with a pickaxe (Gilded Blackstone requires iron or better).
2. Collect the raw ore that drops.
3. Smelt the raw ore in a furnace, blast furnace, or smoker to obtain the finished material (gold ingots).
Why This Design Choice
Keeping Nether ores on the vanilla system ensures the data pack doesn't create inconsistencies with standard Minecraft progression. This also maintains the intended balance and resource gathering pace for Nether exploration.
