Farm Layout Basics
With hoes now effective on cacti, you can design farms that prioritize quick harvesting. Cacti naturally grow upward when placed on sand, making vertical stacking ideal.
Building Your Farm
1. Prepare the ground with sand blocks in rows or a grid pattern
2. Plant cactus on each sand block – they'll grow upward automatically
3. Leave space between cactus columns (at least 1 block) so they don't break each other
4.
5. Harvest with your hoe when cacti reach full height
Optimization Tips
- Arrange in rows for easy walking and hoe access
- Use water channels to collect drops if you automate breaking
- Combine with bone meal to speed up growth between harvests
- Build multiple sections so you can rotate harvests while cacti regrow elsewhere
This setup transforms cactus farming from a tedious task into a quick, repeatable process perfect for gathering dye, fuel, or trading materials.
