Understanding Restored Protean
This mod restores Protean to its pre-Generation 9 mechanics, allowing your Greninja to change its type with every attack it uses, rather than only once per battle.
How It Works in Battle
When your Greninja uses any move, its type automatically shifts to match that move's type. For example:
- Using Water Pulse makes Greninja become Water-type
- Using Dark Pulse shifts it to Dark-type
- Using Focus Blast changes it to Fighting-type
This happens before the move resolves, giving you type-based defensive advantages and STAB (Same-Type Attack Bonus) on every attack.
