Place 15 bookshelves around your enchanting table—this is the maximum number that can contribute. Focus on higher-power bookshelves (Netherite, Enderite, Crying Obsidian) if you want the strongest enchantments with fewer blocks. A full ring of Netherite Bookshelves provides far more power than a ring of Iron ones.
Layer Vertically for Extra Boost
If you want even more power, add a second layer of bookshelves above or below your first ring, keeping them within the 15-block range. This multiplies your available power without needing more horizontal space.
Use Lapis Lazuli Wisely
Enchanting still requires Lapis Lazuli as fuel. More bookshelf power doesn't reduce Lapis cost—it only unlocks better enchantments. Stock up on Lapis before starting major enchanting sessions.
