How to Make Iris Shaders Work With Other Mods
Iris is client-side, so it does not need to be on a server, but it can conflict with other rendering mods. Getting it to coexist is mostly about avoiding overlap.
Avoid Duplicate Rendering Mods
Do not run Iris alongside another shader loader — they fight over the same rendering hooks and cause crashes or black screens. Likewise, mods that replace the sky, clouds, or water rendering may look wrong or break when a shader pack is active. If you see visual corruption, disable the pack first to confirm the shader is the cause.
Check Mod-Specific Compatibility
Some content mods add custom blocks, entities, or dimensions that shader packs do not know how to light. These usually still work but may look flat or unshadowed. There is no universal fix; you either accept the look or switch to a pack that handles that content better.
Server and Multiplayer Notes
Because Iris runs on your client, you can use it on servers that do not have it installed. However, some servers restrict client mods — check their rules. If a shader causes you to disconnect or see missing chunks on a server, disable it for that session. Keep your mod list minimal when troubleshooting so you can isolate the conflict quickly.
