How to Configure Shader Options and Save Your Setup

Once a pack is running, its options menu is where you shape the look. Knowing how settings persist saves you from redoing them every launch.

Accessing Per-Pack Options

Open Shader Packs, select your active pack, and open its Shader Options. These are specific to that pack — different packs expose different sliders and toggles. Common categories include lighting, shadows, water, sky, and post-processing. Change one setting at a time and watch the result so you know what each does.

Understanding What Saves

Most packs remember your choices per pack, so switching away and back keeps your configuration. Iris also stores a global shader configuration, meaning your selected pack and its settings reload automatically next time you start the game. If you want a clean slate, there is usually a Reset button in the shader options to return to defaults.

Sharing or Backing Up Settings

Shader option files live alongside the pack in your shaderpacks folder. Copying that folder preserves both the pack and your tweaks, which is useful when moving to a new setup. If a pack update overwrites your settings, reapply them from your backup.
