Create a Custom HUD Display from Scratch

Setting Up Your Configuration File

The InGame Info XML Mod reads configuration files to determine what information displays on your screen. Start by creating a new text file in your mod's config folder and name it with an appropriate extension: .xml, .json, or .txt.

Building Your First Display

Open your configuration file and define what data you want to show. You can display:

  • Player coordinates and direction
  • Current biome name
  • Light levels
  • Frame rate and memory usage
  • Custom text labels
  • Time of day

Structure your file according to your chosen format. XML and JSON offer the most flexibility for positioning and styling elements on screen. The text format uses a simpler, line-based syntax.

Loading Your Configuration

Once saved, use the command /igi load <filename> to load your custom configuration. The mod will parse the file based on its extension and display the information on your in-game screen. If you make changes to the file, use /igi reload to apply them without restarting the game. This makes testing and debugging much faster during development.
