Setting Up the Slots
Place the enchanted book you want to take enchantments from into the top slot of the Improved Grindstone. Put the book you want to receive those enchantments into the bottom slot. The bottom book can be completely empty or already have its own enchantments — the mod will merge them rather than overwrite them.
Reading the Preview
Before you confirm, look at the output slot. It shows the combined result: enchantments from the top book plus whatever was already on the bottom book. If two books share the same enchantment at different levels, the higher level wins, just like combining books on an anvil. The XP cost shown depends on your configured cost mode.
Finishing the Merge
Pull the result out of the output slot. The top book is consumed and the bottom book is replaced by the merged book. This lets you consolidate scattered enchanted books into a single tidy book, or top up a low-level enchantment by feeding it a higher-level copy.
Practical Tips
- Keep a stack of plain books nearby if you plan to split enchantments across multiple targets.
- Merging is non-destructive to enchantment levels — you never lose the stronger version.
- If a merge looks wrong, close the interface without taking the output; nothing is consumed until you remove the result.
