Immersive Vehicles FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I build my first vehicle?
Start by reading the in-game manual (accessible from your inventory) which walks you through vehicle construction step-by-step. You'll need to craft a fuselage or chassis block, add an engine, and equip it with a seat—then you can spawn it in the world and test it out.
Why won't my plane take off?
Check that your engine is running (you should hear it), you have fuel in the tank, and you're applying enough throttle while pitching up. If the engine won't start, it may be damaged or out of fuel—consult the manual's engine diagnostics section.
My engine is smoking black—what's wrong?
Black smoke indicates your engine is running too rich or is damaged. Check the in-game gauges for oil pressure and temperature; if either is critical, your engine needs repair or replacement before you fly again.
Can I use a controller or joystick instead of keyboard?
Yes—IV supports any joystick recognized by your system, and you can configure it in the mod's control settings. If you don't have a physical controller, the built-in mouse yoke system offers faster response than keyboard controls.
How do I add cargo space to my plane?
When building your vehicle, you can swap out passenger seats for cargo chests during construction—just don't put a chest in the pilot seat. The in-game manual shows which slots accept chests and which require seats.
What happens when I run out of fuel mid-flight?
Unlike vanilla Minecraft, you won't drop like a stone—the mod's realistic physics mean you'll lose altitude gradually and can glide to find a landing spot. Plan your flights with fuel range in mind and check your fuel gauge regularly.
How do I install new vehicles or content packs?
Content packs expand your vehicle options beyond the base mod. Place downloaded packs in the appropriate mod folder, and they'll load automatically when you restart—the mod supports pack-based customization similar to older vehicle mods.
Why is my vehicle sliding around on the ground?
Ground handling is affected by speed, surface type (slick blocks cause sliding), tire condition, and how many wheels are actually touching the ground. Slow down on slippery surfaces and check for blown tires if handling feels off.
Can I see my altitude and heading without opening the debug screen?
Yes—IV includes working gauges like altimeters and heading indicators that you can equip on your vehicle. These display in-world so you can navigate without F3, plus additional gauges show engine temperature, oil pressure, and electrical voltage.
Do I need to read the manual or can I just figure it out?
The in-game manual is highly recommended—it covers everything from basic construction to advanced engine tuning and explains why your vehicle behaves the way it does. You can access it anytime without leaving Minecraft, and it'll save you troubleshooting time.
