How to Add or Remove a Stage from a Player in Game Stages

Using the stage command

Game Stages exposes a single command root that handles all stage management. Open chat and type /gamestages to see the available subcommands. The two you will use most are add and remove, each of which takes a stage name and a target player.

To give a player a stage, run /gamestages add <player> <stage>. To take one away, run /gamestages remove <player> <stage>. Stage names are case-sensitive strings defined by the modpack or by you, so copy them exactly as they appear in the config. If you are an operator running the command on yourself, you can usually omit the player argument and the command defaults to the sender.

Checking and bulk operations

Before changing anything, run /gamestages check <player> <stage> to confirm whether the player already has it. This prevents duplicate grants and helps you debug why a locked item is or is not usable. You can also list every stage a player currently holds, which is useful when a pack has dozens of stages and you have lost track.

If you need to affect everyone online at once, the command supports a wildcard target so a single invocation applies the stage to all connected players. Use this carefully: removing a stage from everyone can instantly re-lock recipes and items mid-session, so warn players first. Changes apply immediately and persist across logout, so no restart is needed.
