Sharing a Working Config Setup With Other Players
Which files to copy
When you want a friend to get the same settings you use, you are sharing the config files of the individual mods, not anything belonging to Forge Config API Port. Go to your instance's config folder and identify the files or subfolders for the mods you want to share.
Do not copy the entire config folder blindly. It often contains settings for many unrelated mods, plus machine-specific values like paths or keys that will not work on another computer.
Steps for a clean transfer
1. Note which mods the settings belong to, and make sure your friend has the same mods installed.
2. Copy only those mods' config files or folders.
3. Have your friend close Minecraft before placing the files into their own config folder.
4. Warn them that if their mod versions differ, some options may be ignored or reset.
After launching, both of you should verify the settings took effect in-game rather than assuming the copy worked. If a mod regenerates its file on startup, that usually means the copied file was incompatible and was replaced with defaults. In that case, compare mod versions first, then try again. Keeping a backup of the original config folder makes it easy to undo a bad transfer.
