How to Find and Edit Config Files for Mods That Use Forge Config API Port
Where the config files live
Forge Config API Port does not create its own config screen or its own files. It is a library: it lets other mods use the familiar Forge-style config system on loaders that normally do not have it. That means the config files you are looking for belong to the individual mods, not to this library.
In practice, mods using this API store their configs in the standard config folder for your instance. Open your game directory and look for a config folder. Inside it you will usually find either a single file per mod or a subfolder named after the mod, depending on how that mod organizes its settings. Files are typically plain text in a TOML-style format, with comments explaining each option.
Editing safely
1. Close Minecraft completely before editing. Many mods read their config only at startup, and some rewrite the file on exit, which can overwrite your changes.
2. Open the file in a plain text editor, not a word processor.
3. Change only the values, not the option names or section headers, unless the comments say otherwise.
4. Save, then launch the game and check the mod's behavior.
If a mod provides an in-game config screen, prefer that over manual editing. If something breaks, delete the file and let the mod regenerate defaults on next launch.
