Fancy Frames FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I craft a frame?
Place four of your chosen material (Wood, Stone, Copper, Iron, Gold, Diamond, Emerald, or Netherite) around a vanilla item frame in the crafting grid, with the frame in the center. This creates a framed item frame of that material.
Do I need to place the frame before or after putting an item in?
Place your item or painting in the frame first as you normally would, then shift + right click on it to apply the decorative frame around it.
Can I frame paintings or just items?
You can frame both paintings and item frames—the mod works with both, giving you customizable display options for either.
What if my frame doesn't show up after I place it?
Make sure you're shift + right clicking directly on the placed item or painting, not on empty space. If it still doesn't appear, try placing the item frame again or check that you're using the correct framed frame variant.
Can I remove a frame once I've applied it?
Shift + right click the framed item again to toggle the frame off, or break the item frame entirely to remove both the frame and the display.
Do different frame materials have different durability or properties?
Frame materials are purely cosmetic—they don't affect durability, function, or how items display, only how they look.
Will this mod work with other decoration mods?
Yes, Fancy Frames uses vanilla item frames and paintings, so it's compatible with most decoration and building mods that don't directly conflict with frame mechanics.
Can I use frames in multiplayer?
Yes, as long as the mod is installed on the server or in your multiplayer world, frames will work and display correctly for all players.
Do frames work on all block types or just walls?
Frames work anywhere you can place a vanilla item frame—on walls, logs, stairs, and most solid blocks.
Why do my frames look different on other players' screens?
Make sure everyone in your world has the same version of Fancy Frames installed, and check your resource pack or shader settings, as these can affect how frames render.
