Optimizing Performance with 3D Item Models
Understanding Performance Impact
3D item models are more detailed than flat sprites, which can affect frame rates depending on your system. The impact is typically minor since items aren't constantly rendering in large quantities, but optimization helps maintain smooth gameplay.
Adjusting Graphics Settings
1. Open Options → Video Settings
2. Lower Render Distance if you notice frame drops (items render at distance too)
3. Reduce Entity Distance to limit how far away items render in 3D
4. Disable Fancy Graphics if performance is critical
Monitoring Frame Rate
Press F3 to open the debug screen and watch your FPS while moving through areas with many items. If it drops significantly:
- Temporarily disable the resource pack to compare
- Reduce other visual settings (particles, clouds, etc.)
- Close unnecessary background applications
Balancing Quality and Performance
The 3D models use the same voxel grid as vanilla, so they're relatively lightweight. Most modern systems handle them without issue. If you experience problems, it's usually due to other mods or settings rather than this pack alone.
