Ender Drives FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I make my first Ender Drive?
Craft an Ender Drive using the recipe from JEI/NEI, then place it directly into your Applied Energistics 2 network like you would any other drive. Open the drive's interface and set a frequency number—any number you choose—then place another drive with the same frequency elsewhere to link them together.
Do Ender Drives work across dimensions?
Yes, that's their main feature. Place one drive in the Overworld and another in the Nether or End with the same frequency, and they'll share the exact same inventory no matter which dimension you're in.
Can I set a drive to only accept items or only output items?
Yes, use the transfer mode setting on the drive. You can set it to input-only, output-only, or bidirectional depending on what you need for that particular drive.
How do I keep my Ender Drive private so other players can't access it?
Open the drive's interface and change the privacy setting from Global to Private. Only you will be able to access drives set to Private, even if someone else knows the frequency number.
Can my FTB Team share an Ender Drive without making it public to the whole server?
Yes, set the privacy mode to Team instead of Private or Global. Only members of your FTB Team will be able to access that drive.
What happens to my items if the server crashes?
Your items are completely safe. Ender Drives saves all item data directly to your world folder, so nothing is lost even if the server shuts down unexpectedly.
How many different items can an Ender Drive store?
Each drive can handle up to 250,000 different item types without performance issues, and stores up to 9 quintillion of each item in a single record.
Do I need to use the same frequency color for linked drives?
No, the color is just for visual organization in your inventory. Only the frequency number matters for linking drives together—the color doesn't affect functionality.
Can I link more than two Ender Drives to the same frequency?
Yes, you can place as many drives as you want with the same frequency number, and they'll all share the same inventory.
Will Ender Drives slow down my game if I use a lot of them?
No, the mod is designed to handle large numbers of drives and item types efficiently without causing lag, as long as you're within the 250,000 item type limit per drive.
