Craft Your First Ender Compass

Gather Your Materials

Before crafting, you'll need to collect 4 Ender Pearls and 1 regular Compass. Ender Pearls drop from Endermen, which spawn in the Overworld at night or in the End dimension. A regular Compass can be crafted from 4 Iron Ingots and 1 Redstone Dust arranged in a cross pattern, or found in various loot chests.

Arrange the Crafting Recipe

Open your crafting table. Place the Compass in the center square. Arrange the 4 Ender Pearls in the four cardinal directions around it—one directly above, one below, one to the left, and one to the right. Leave the corner squares empty.

Craft the Ender Compass. You now have a tool that will point you toward the nearest stronghold, eliminating the need to throw dozens of Ender Pearls to triangulate the stronghold's location.

What You've Gained

This single compass replaces the tedious pearl-throwing method entirely. Keep it in your inventory during exploration, and you'll always know which direction to travel to reach the End dimension's stronghold.
