Set Up Your First NPC Guard

Creating a Basic Guard

The fastest way to deploy a working guard is through the Easy Build system. First, spawn a CustomNPCs character in your world and make sure you have the DW NPC Core item in your inventory.

Steps

1. Hold the DW NPC Core and right-click on your CustomNPCs character

2. A menu will open—select the Easy Build button

3. Answer the simple setup questions about your guard's role (patroller, stationary defender, etc.)

4. Assign a weapon from your available guns

5. Set a basic patrol route by clicking waypoints, or leave them stationary

6. Confirm the settings

Your guard is now active. They'll automatically detect nearby players based on their configured senses (sight and hearing range). If you want to skip the questions, use the Presets tool instead to instantly load a pre-configured soldier type like a sniper or heavy gunner.

Fine-Tuning

Once deployed, you can always re-open the menu with the DW NPC Core to adjust weapon choice, ammo limits, or movement behavior without starting over.
