Dochis Warfare FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I get started with this mod?
Get the DW NPC Core item in Creative mode, then right-click any CustomNPCs character while holding it to open the combat editor. From there you can assign weapons, set up their behavior, or use the Easy Build button for a quick preset soldier setup.
Do I need other mods for this to work?
You need CustomNPCs to create characters and TACZ to give them functional guns. PointBlank and SuperbWarfare are optional but add more weapon variety and features like vehicles.
Can NPCs actually run out of ammo?
Yes, the mod tracks ammo for each character based on how you configure it in the combat editor. When they run out of bullets, they'll switch to melee attacks instead.
How do I make NPCs take cover?
NPCs will automatically seek cover behind solid blocks when they're reloading or taking heavy damage, as long as there are suitable blocks nearby. You can influence this behavior through the NPC Combat Editor's movement settings.
What's the difference between Easy Build and the full editor?
Easy Build asks you simple questions to quickly create a preset soldier type like a sniper or patroller. The full NPC Combat Editor gives you detailed control over every aspect of their combat, movement, and weapon behavior.
Can I set up NPCs to patrol specific areas?
Yes, you can create patrol routes through the mod's tools—check the Create a Patrol Route guide for step-by-step instructions on marking waypoints and setting movement patterns.
How do NPCs detect me?
NPCs have configurable senses for sight and sound range that you set in the combat editor. The further away you are or the quieter you are, the harder it is for them to notice you.
Can I use traps with this mod?
Yes, you can place hidden explosion traps and grenade traps to defend your base. See the Set Up Traps and Defenses guide for placement and triggering options.
What happens if I give an NPC a gun from a mod that isn't TACZ or PointBlank?
The mod is designed to work with TACZ and PointBlank weapons specifically. Using other mod weapons may result in NPCs not being able to use them properly or at all.
Can NPCs use vehicles?
If you have SuperbWarfare installed, NPCs can operate smart ground vehicles that drive and shoot autonomously. You set this up through the combat editor like any other NPC behavior.
