Where to Look
Dense ores spawn naturally in caves throughout the Overworld and Nether, but they're intentionally rare. Focus your search in cave systems rather than mining straight down—dense ores generate as small clusters in existing cave networks.
Search Strategy
Explore deep cave systems, particularly those below Y-level 0 in the Overworld. Dense ores appear with low probability, so patience is key. Use torches to mark promising cave branches and return to them periodically as new chunks generate.
In the Nether, search lava-filled caverns and soul sand valleys where dense variants of nether ores spawn. The same rarity principle applies—you won't find them immediately.
Efficiency Tips
Bring a pickaxe with Efficiency to clear stone faster and expose more ore faces. A headlamp or night vision helps spot the distinctive dense ore textures, which are visually distinct from regular ores. Consider strip mining at specific depths if cave exploration feels too slow, though caves remain the primary generation location.
