How to Disable or Silence Death Quotes

Emptying the file

There is no dedicated toggle documented, so the simplest way to silence the mod is to make the quotes file empty or contain only a single blank line. Open config/deathquotes.txt, delete all the quotes, and save. On next launch the mod will have nothing to print above the death message, effectively muting the feature while leaving the mod installed.

Using a single neutral line

If an empty file causes the mod to regenerate defaults, replace the contents with one harmless line instead — for example a period or a short neutral phrase. That way the file is not empty, the mod is satisfied, and chat stays clean. Test by dying once and checking whether anything appears.

Removing the mod entirely

If you want the death messages to go back to vanilla with no extra line at all, remove the mod from your mods folder and delete or rename config/deathquotes.txt. On a server, do this server-side; clients with the mod will simply stop receiving the extra line. Remember to back up your custom quotes first if you might want them later.
