10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I build my first submarine?
Start by constructing a watertight hull using submarine-grade blocks, then add a control seat inside so you can pilot it. You'll need to connect a power source (like a motor or engine) and attach a helm to steer, then use the submarine assembly to activate it.
What happens if my submarine runs out of oxygen?
You and any passengers will begin taking damage from suffocation. You must manage oxygen by either surfacing regularly, installing oxygen tanks inside your submarine, or using oxygen generation systems powered by your engine.
How does water pressure work in this mod?
The deeper you dive, the greater the pressure on your submarine hull. If you descend too far without reinforcing your hull with pressure-resistant blocks or design, your submarine will take damage and eventually implode.
Do I need Create Aeronautics installed to use this mod?
No, Create Aeronautics is optional but recommended since this mod extends it with additional features. The mod requires Create as a dependency, but Aeronautics enhances the experience with extra vehicle mechanics.
Can I build a submarine that works on the surface like a boat?
Yes, you can design hybrid vehicles that function both underwater and on the water surface. Build with buoyant materials and proper weight distribution to keep your submarine afloat when you want to sail rather than dive.
What's the best way to power a submarine engine?
Connect rotational power from a motor or mechanical system to your engine block, then link it to your submarine's propulsion system. You'll need enough power output to overcome water resistance, especially at greater depths.
Why is my submarine sinking uncontrollably?
You likely have too much weight or not enough buoyant blocks in your design. Adjust your hull composition to balance weight and buoyancy, or add ballast tanks that you can fill and empty to control your depth.
Can I see outside my submarine while piloting it?
Yes, add glass or transparent blocks to your hull to create windows and viewports. This lets you navigate visually while staying protected inside, though it may reduce structural integrity in very deep areas.
What's the difference between a submarine and a boat in this mod?
Boats are designed for surface travel and don't need to manage pressure, while submarines must be pressure-resistant and require oxygen management for underwater exploration. Boats are faster on the surface but can't safely dive deep.
Does this mod affect performance or cause lag?
The physics-based vehicle system can impact performance depending on your hardware and how many submarines are active at once. Optimize by limiting the number of active vehicles and using simpler hull designs if you experience slowdowns.
