Continents is compatible with the Vanilla large biomes world type. Combining the two gives you a world of sprawling continents and archipelagos with oversized biomes, which is ideal for long exploration or boat-based survival.
Setting it up
1. Enable the Continents data pack in your world or global data pack folder.
2. When creating a new world, set the world type to Large Biomes in the world creation options.
3. Generate the world. You should see continents separated by wide oceans, with each biome covering a larger area than normal.
4. Reuse any seed you like — the continent layout stays consistent with the same seed even across different WorldGen setups.
Playing in this world
- Bring a boat early. Oceans are the dominant terrain, so water travel is often faster than walking between continents.
- Plan bases near coastlines so you can launch boats quickly.
- Expect long distances between biomes. Large biomes plus continents means a single biome can span a huge chunk of a continent.
- Use
/locate biometo find a specific biome if you do not want to sail blindly.
Notes
Continents does not change biome distribution, so large biomes still place biomes where they normally would — just larger. If you want smaller islands instead of big continents, this combination is not the right fit; use Continents alone with the default world type instead.
