Chains excel at creating decorative barriers that don't impede movement:

1. Build a line of fence posts or walls

2. Connect adjacent posts with chains using vanilla chain items

3. Layer multiple chains vertically by placing them at different heights using sneak-placement

4. Combine chains with different fence types (oak, dark oak, iron bars) for visual variety

Design Tips

Since chains are non-solid, mobs and players pass through freely—perfect for:

• Decorative railings on bridges or platforms
• Atmospheric prison or dungeon aesthetics
• Nautical-themed structures and docks
• Marking boundaries without blocking access
• Creating visual separation in open areas

The maximum seven-block stretch limits how far you can span, so plan your fence post spacing accordingly. Closer posts create more chain segments and a denser visual effect.
