Hold the Freelook Key
While you are moving, press and hold the keybind assigned to freelook. Your camera detaches from your movement direction: you can now turn your view left, right, up, or down while your character keeps walking the way you were already going. Keep the key held for as long as you want to look around.
Release to Snap Back
When you let go of the key, your view returns to normal and re-aligns with your movement direction. This makes it easy to check behind you, scan for mobs, or glance at a landmark without ever steering your character off course.
Practical Uses
- Sprinting down a path and checking whether something is following you.
- Crossing a bridge while watching your footing and the horizon at the same time.
- Mining or building while keeping an eye on a nearby cave entrance.
- Looking at a map or sign without stopping your forward momentum.
Tips
If the view feels awkward, check your keybind settings and pick a key that is comfortable to hold with your movement hand. Because the camera only moves while the key is held, you never lose your original heading — releasing the key always brings you back to it.
