The problem

Anvils in busy areas get used a lot and end up looking worn. Instead of breaking and replacing them, you can top them up in place with this mod.

A simple maintenance routine

1. Keep a stack of iron ingots in a chest near your anvil area, or carry some in your hotbar.

2. Walk past each anvil and right-click it with an iron ingot to restore one stage.

3. Repeat until every anvil looks clean again. One ingot is used per stage restored.

4. If you actually prefer the worn look for decoration, leave those anvils alone or use obsidian to push them further.

Tips for shared spaces

  • On a server, agree with other players on whether anvils should be kept pristine or worn, so nobody undoes someone else's decoration on purpose.
  • Because damaging with obsidian never destroys the block, it is safe for players to adjust anvils in public builds without fear of griefing the block itself.
  • Repairing in place means you never have to break an anvil that is embedded in a floor, wall, or custom forge, which keeps your build intact.
  • Store obsidian alongside the iron so anyone can adjust anvil wear without hunting for materials.
