How to Identify Dropper, Dispenser, and Hopper Facing Direction

Why direction matters

Droppers, dispensers, and hoppers only move items in the direction they face, and a misplaced one silently jams a farm or sorting system. XK Redstone Display adds a directional indicator to each of these blocks so you can confirm facing without breaking and replacing them.

Checking facing before you build

1. Place the block, then look at it from the side you expect it to output toward. The indicator points in the block's actual output direction.

2. If the arrow points the wrong way, break and re-place the block while standing on the side you want it to face — placement direction follows how you place the block.

3. For hoppers, remember they also have a top input and a side output. The display distinguishes the output spout direction, so you can verify a hopper is feeding into the chest you intended rather than the one beside it.

Debugging a jammed item line

If items stop moving, follow the chain block by block and check each indicator in turn. A single hopper facing into a full container, or a dropper aimed at a wall instead of into a hopper, will stall everything upstream. The directional overlay lets you spot the wrong-facing block in seconds instead of dismantling the machine.

Sorting systems

In item sorters, every hopper must point into the next stage. Run along the row and confirm each indicator lines up with the flow of items. One reversed hopper is enough to back up the whole line.
